Bouygues Bbox login, restart, Wi-Fi and devices

The Bbox is the box Bouygues Telecom and B&You supply in France. Bouygues documents almost everything through its customer app, which opens the Bbox admin interface; on your home network you can also open it in a browser at https://mabbox.bytel.fr.

Password
Bouygues’s help pages don’t say where a factory admin password is printed. If you don’t know yours, use mot de passe oublié ? (forgotten password) on the sign-in page to set a new one. The Wi-Fi key is a different password, on the white label at the back or on the screen of a Bbox WiFi 6E, 7 or 7 XT.
Models
Bbox WiFi 7 XT, Bbox WiFi 7, Bbox WiFi 6E, Bbox WiFi 6

Checked 1 November 2026. Bbox WiFi 7 XT, Bbox WiFi 7, Bbox WiFi 6E and Bbox WiFi 6, with the admin interface as reached from the Bouygues Telecom app (menus as of 2026). Bouygues’s help is in French; labels are quoted in French with an English gloss.

Sign in to the Bbox

  1. Connect your Mac to the Bbox’s Wi-Fi network.

  2. Open https://mabbox.bytel.fr in your browser.

  3. Enter the admin interface password and click Connexion (Sign in).

  4. In the app instead: tap your Bbox line, then Ma Bbox › Gérer ma Bbox (My Bbox › Manage my Bbox).

  5. Tap Accéder à mon interface admin (Open my admin interface).

Forgotten the admin password? Click mot de passe oublié ? on the sign-in page. A message shows how long you have; follow the instructions for your model, choose a new password and click APPLIQUER (Apply).

Restart it properly

Bouygues documents a restart from the app, and on models with a screen, from the screen when it shows an error.

  1. In the app, tap your Bbox line, then Ma Bbox › Gérer ma Bbox.

  2. Tap the name of your Bbox.

  3. At the bottom of the screen, tap Redémarrer ma Bbox (Restart my Bbox).

The Reset button (red at the back, or underneath on some models) returns the Bbox to factory settings, not a restart. Turn on automatic backup first so your Wi-Fi name and password come back.

From the Bbox screen

On a Bbox with a screen, error codes S3, S4 and C1 come with a Redémarrer ma Bbox option on the screen itself.

  1. Read the error code on the Bbox screen.

  2. For S3 (synchronisation under way), wait about 15 minutes first.

  3. Select Redémarrer ma Bbox on the screen.

Schedule a restart

Bouygues’s help pages document no scheduled restart. Programmer des pauses WiFi (Schedule Wi-Fi breaks) only switches Wi-Fi off at set times.

Update the firmware

Bouygues’s help pages document no manual update or version page. On a Bbox WiFi 6 or 6E with a screen, an icon shows while an update is downloading.

See connected devices

  1. In the app, tap your Bbox line, then Ma Bbox › Gérer ma Bbox.

  2. Tap X Appareils connectés (X connected devices) to see each device on Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

  3. Each entry shows whether the device is new and how long since it was last connected.

  4. To block a device for good, use Wi-Fi access control under Programmer des pauses WiFi (Schedule Wi-Fi breaks).

UPnP and port forwarding

Bouygues’s help pages document no UPnP setting for the Bbox. Its documented security settings are the firewall, under the three-line menu › Réglages avancés (Advanced settings) › Ajouter ou modifier les règles (Add or edit rules).

Prioritise calls and gaming

Bouygues’s help pages document no QoS or device-priority setting. The app can pause Wi-Fi for chosen devices at set times, which is the closest documented control.

2.4 and 5 GHz, and the channel

The Bbox chooses the best band (2.4, 5 or 6 GHz) for each device automatically. On the Bbox WiFi 7 XT, the screen also offers a separate “WiFi Plus” network for Wi-Fi 7 devices and a compatible network for older ones.

  1. In the app, open Gérer ma Bbox › Accéder à mon interface admin.

  2. Tap the second icon at the bottom, Mes réglages Wi-Fi (My Wi-Fi settings).

  3. Tap Unifier mon Wi-Fi (Unify my Wi-Fi).

  4. Tap Voir les réglages avancés (See advanced settings) and check the automatic selection switch is blue.

Change the channel

Bouygues documents only the automatic band and channel selection, not how to pick a channel by hand.

Older devices on a Bbox WiFi 7 XT

  1. On the Bbox screen, under Un appareil a du mal à se connecter (A device has trouble connecting), choose Suivre le pas-à-pas (Follow the steps).

  2. Tap Commencer (Start) and try to reconnect the device.

  3. If it still fails, tap Non, then Activer le Wi-Fi compatible (Turn on compatible Wi-Fi).

  4. Scan the QR code or type the password shown on the screen.

Mesh: which node a device uses

Bouygues sells its own repeaters (Répéteur WiFi 7 XT, WiFi 7, Bbox WiFi 6 and WiFi 5). Devices already joined to the Bbox move to the repeater automatically.

  1. Check the Bbox is online and on Wi-Fi; on a Bbox WiFi 7 XT the icons show at the top of the screen.

  2. Place the repeater halfway between the Bbox and the area that needs coverage.

  3. Plug it in and press its On/Off button. Wait for a steady green light.

  4. Or plug it into an Ethernet wall socket to place it further away.

Steady red means move the repeater closer to the Bbox; steady orange means move it further away. Flashing blue means it must be paired by hand, as described in its guide.

Guest network

The Bbox WiFi 6, 6E and 7 have a separate guest network that can’t reach your own devices or data.

  1. In the app, open Gérer ma Bbox › Accéder à mon interface admin.

  2. Tap the WiFi icon.

  3. Under Wi-Fi invité (Guest Wi-Fi), move the switch so it turns blue.

  4. On a Bbox WiFi 7 XT, you can instead choose Connecter un invité (Connect a guest) on the screen; guests scan the QR code.

Depending on the model, you can limit guest access to 2 hours, a day, or chosen days.

DNS settings

Bouygues’s help pages document no setting for the DNS servers the Bbox hands out. For the Bbox Pro Ultra, Bouygues says the DNS can’t be changed; it documents only a dynamic DNS client on the DynDNS tab. Set DNS on the Mac instead.

Connection status and logs

  1. On a Bbox with a screen, read any error code. S1 to S3 point to the fibre or its module, G1 and G2 to the 4G backup key.

  2. On a Bbox WiFi 6 or 6E with a screen, a red access light means a fibre problem.

  3. A fast-flashing red connection light means the box reaches the fibre terminal but gets no IP address.

  4. On a Bbox WiFi 6 without a screen, the internet @ and fibre lights are green when working and red when not.

  5. If an error persists, use Mon Assistant Bbox in the Bouygues assistance site, which detects your equipment.

Bouygues’s help pages don’t describe a connection log or line-statistics page in the admin interface.

Questions

Where is the Bbox Wi-Fi password?

On the white label at the back if you haven’t changed it, or on the screen of a Bbox WiFi 6E, 7 or 7 XT. The app shows it under Gérer ma Bbox › Personnaliser mon WiFi.

My new Bbox doesn’t use the Wi-Fi name on its label. Why?

With automatic backup on, an exchanged Bbox keeps the old box’s Wi-Fi name and password. To use the label instead, choose Restauration d’usine › Réinitialiser under Réglages avancés › Sauvegarder et restauration.

Can I turn on UPnP on a Bbox?

Bouygues’s help pages don’t document a UPnP setting, so this guide can’t give a path for it.
