Fastweb NeXXt restart, Wi-Fi, guest network and port mapping

The NeXXt and NeXXt One are the modems Fastweb supplies with its home fibre plans in Italy, after the older FASTGate. Fastweb has you manage them in the MyFastweb app, or in the MyFastweb customer area in a browser, under Gestisci NeXXt.

Checked 1 November 2026. Fastweb NeXXt and NeXXt One through the MyFastweb app and customer area (menus as of 2026). The menus are in Italian; labels are given with an English gloss. The newer Modem Seven uses Gestisci Seven instead. Fastweb’s current help pages no longer cover the FASTGate.

Sign in to the Fastweb NeXXt

  1. Install the MyFastweb app and sign in with your Fastweb customer details.

  2. On the home screen, tap Gestisci NeXXt (Manage NeXXt), or Gestisci NeXXt One.

  3. Tap La mia rete › Vai alle impostazioni (My network › Go to settings).

  4. Without the app, sign in to the MyFastweb customer area in a browser and choose Gestisci NeXXt.

Forgotten your MyFastweb password? Reset it at fastweb.it/myfastweb/servizi/reset-password/. The NeXXt also has a local configuration console, opened with a button combination, but Fastweb’s guides don’t give its address.

Restart it properly

A restart keeps your Wi-Fi name, password and advanced settings. Phone, internet and Wi-Fi drop while it runs.

  1. In MyFastweb, open Gestisci NeXXt › La mia rete › Vai alle impostazioni.

  2. Open Altre impostazioni › Reset impostazioni (Other settings › Reset settings). In a browser it is under Impostazioni avanzate first.

  3. Tap Riavvia NeXXt (Restart NeXXt).

Ripristino dati (Restore data) on the same page, or the RESET pinhole on the modem, returns it to factory settings and erases your setup.

Without the app

  1. Unplug the modem’s power cable.

  2. Plug it back in after a few seconds.

Schedule a restart

Fastweb’s guides document no scheduled restart. Programmazione Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi schedule) only switches Wi-Fi on and off.

Update the firmware

Fastweb’s guides document no manual firmware update. The NeXXt updates itself: its light flashes light blue during an update, and you must not switch it off.

See connected devices

  1. In MyFastweb, open Gestisci NeXXt › La mia rete › Vai alle impostazioni.

  2. Tap Mappa della rete (Network map) to see the equipment in your home network and its signal quality.

  3. For per-device access control, use Altre impostazioni › MAC filter and aggiungi dispositivo (add device).

Fastweb’s guides don’t describe a full list of connected devices.

UPnP and port forwarding

Fastweb’s guides document no UPnP IGD or NAT-PMP setting for automatic port forwarding. The Dispositivi locali › USB/UPnP page only shares USB drives and printers on your network. Forward ports by hand instead.

Port mapping by hand

  1. In MyFastweb, open Gestisci NeXXt › La mia rete › Vai alle impostazioni › Altre impostazioni.

  2. Under Internet, open Port Mapping and add the ports and device.

An open port exposes that device to the internet. Forward only the ports an app needs, and remove rules you no longer use.

Prioritise calls and gaming

Fastweb’s guides document no QoS or device-priority setting for the NeXXt.

2.4 and 5 GHz, and the channel

Fastweb recommends keeping 2.4 and 5 GHz joined as one network, and never switching 5 GHz off, because Boosters connect on it.

  1. In MyFastweb, open Gestisci NeXXt › La mia rete › Vai alle impostazioni › La mia rete.

  2. Choose to configure the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks separately.

  3. Give each band its own name (SSID) and password if you like.

  4. Save, then reconnect your devices.

Wi-Fi channel and mode

  1. Open Altre impostazioni › Rete Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi network).

  2. In Broadcast SSID, check the channel in use and the Wi-Fi mode.

  3. If an older device can’t join, set Modalità Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi mode) to Mixed 802.11a/n/ac.

Fastweb advises keeping Ricerca automatica (automatic channel search) on, as set by default. Its guides don’t describe choosing a channel by hand.

Mesh: which node a device uses

Fastweb Boosters extend the NeXXt’s Wi-Fi and join its network automatically.

  1. Connect your phone to the NeXXt’s Wi-Fi and open MyFastweb.

  2. Go to NeXXt › Estendi la tua rete › Installa (Extend your network › Install).

  3. Plug the Booster in halfway to the weak area and wait for its light to flash green.

  4. Scan the QR code under the Booster. Steady white means a good link; flashing white means move it closer.

Without the app, press the Fastweb logo and Volume Up buttons for 3 seconds on the NeXXt, then on the Booster (WPS). A Booster can also connect by Ethernet cable.

Guest network

  1. In MyFastweb, open Gestisci NeXXt › La mia rete › Vai alle impostazioni.

  2. Tap Rete ospiti (Guest network) and switch it on.

  3. Set the guest network name (SSID) and password.

  4. Save the change.

DNS settings

Fastweb’s guides document no setting for custom DNS servers on the NeXXt. Set DNS on the Mac instead.

Connection status and logs

  1. In MyFastweb, open Gestisci NeXXt › La mia rete › Vai alle impostazioni to monitor the connection.

  2. From the home screen, tap Speed test to measure speed to the NeXXt and from the NeXXt to your device.

  3. Under Altre impostazioni › Internet, set Degrado della linea (Line degradation) notifications.

A steady red light on the NeXXt means the line is down. Fastweb’s app has help under Assistenza › Supporto Fastweb.

Questions

Can I manage the NeXXt without the MyFastweb app?

Yes. Sign in to the MyFastweb customer area in a browser and choose Gestisci NeXXt; the menus match the app.

Should I split the 2.4 and 5 GHz networks?

Fastweb recommends keeping them joined for the most stable signal. Never switch off 5 GHz if you use Boosters.
