Shadow on a Mac

A Windows PC in the cloud, smooth on your Mac.

Shadow streams a whole Windows PC to a Mac app for Intel and Apple silicon, or to a Chromium browser. Shadow recommends at least 15 Mbps and Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Kilobat watches the stream while you play or work and names what on the Mac gets in its way.

Internet speed

What Shadow says as of November 2026. Shadow doesn’t publish speeds per resolution or data per hour.

SpeedA connection of at least 15 Mbit/s is recommended; a stable 15 Mbps is enough to get started, and 4K needs more.
Wi-FiEthernet or a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network for the best performance.
At that rate for an hourA stream at 15 Mbps for a whole hour moves about 6.8 GB; at 30 Mbps, about 14 GB.
ResolutionNeo Lite and Power Lite stream at 1440p, Neo up to 1440p and above, and Power up to 5K, by Shadow’s plan pages.
DatacentersDunkerque and Strasbourg in France, Frankfurt, Montréal, Washington DC and Portland, on Shadow’s status page. You pick the country and datacenter when you subscribe.

How Kilobat helps

Hours-long sessions, every stutter accounted for.

Kilobat notices Shadow in its Mac app by the app itself, over UDP or TCP, and at pc.shadow.tech once the browser is talking to Shadow while its stream comes in. While it runs, it shows the ping, jitter, loss, the stream’s bitrate and data, and flags AirDrop, 2.4 GHz, a weak signal and busy apps as they happen.

  • One click pauses AirDrop and, with Pro, holds sync apps until the session ends, for three hours at most.
  • On a hotspot it shows the data an hour, where a long session is heading and when your budget runs out.
  • Afterwards a report says when it stuttered and what was going on.
