Broadband consumer-rights changes: complaint deadlines and speed evidence
Check the effective date and service type before using a new rule. These updates explain what changed and which action it affects.
When this helps
- You need to know whether an old complaint deadline still applies.
- You are choosing a formal measurement procedure for a speed dispute.
Germany · 20 April 2026 · Mobile speed evidence
A separate official mobile broadband proof procedure took effect. Use the mobile app and its measurement instructions.
The fixed-line desktop procedure remains a separate route. See Germany’s speed-evidence guide.
United Kingdom · 8 April 2026 · Six-week ADR threshold
Eligible unresolved telecom complaints can generally reach independent dispute resolution after six weeks, or earlier with a deadlock letter.
This is the point for referral, not a promise that a complaint will be resolved within six weeks. See the UK complaint guide.
Australia · June 2026 · Measurement programme concluded
The ACCC says its Measuring Broadband Australia programme concluded in June 2026. Historical reports remain dated evidence, not a live measurement of your service.
This is a change to a data programme, not a new right to compensation. See NBN tests and complaints.
Before relying on an update
Check the primary source, effective date, service type and provider eligibility. A rule from another country does not establish rights for your connection.
For places without a local guide here, start with your provider’s formal complaints process and the national communications regulator.
