United Airlines Wi-Fi: tests, evidence and complaints
If United Wi-Fi is slow or will not stay connected, start with the portal checks. Then record a repeatable result and ask for a specific outcome.
When this helps
- You are using United Wi-Fi on a flight.
- The link is slower than you need, drops out or fails during a call.
Check the onboard Wi-Fi
These checks follow United’s published sign-in guidance. Equipment differs by aircraft, so record what the portal showed.
Before travel, check United’s Starlink tracker for that flight, up to three days ahead.
On board, turn on airplane mode, then turn Wi-Fi on and open the sign-in page.
Sign in with MileagePlus if the portal offers member access.
Note whether the seatback screen works while the laptop cannot load pages.
Separate a sign-in problem from a slow link
For what United publishes about availability and sign-in, see the United Airlines Wi-Fi guide.
A tracker result is not a promise for that aircraft. Record the flight number, date and what you could open.
Repeat the same page load later in the flight and write down the time.
Record latency and loss if a work call fails. Keep the flight number and date.
Note whether another device on the same login could load the same page.
How to complain to United Airlines
Use United’s official support to report the fault. Request a formal complaint reference if it remains unresolved.
United’s refund form covers some paid Wi-Fi. Member Starlink access may have no charge to refund.
If United does not resolve it, you can file with the US Department of Transportation. Use the air-travel complaint form.
On Connectivity hell, United Airlines has 74 public Wi-Fi complaints in 30 days. See United Airlines on Connectivity hell.
Collect the evidence with Kilobat
On a Mac, Kilobat can record connection checks and produce a support report. Review the report and add your test conditions before sharing.
The basic report export is free. Kilobat Pro’s complaint wizard helps assemble your evidence, impact and requested resolution into a draft you review and send.
Measurements cover this Mac while monitoring ran. They cannot prove whole-cabin uptime, establish airline fault or replace a required official measurement procedure.
