- SkyMiles members get free Wi-Fi on nearly all domestic and international flights.
Who provides it
- Viasat
Satellite capacity behind Delta Sync Wi-Fi. Delta is adding capacity from the ViaSat-3 F2 (Americas, parts of the Atlantic) and F3 (Pacific) satellites.
- Hughes
Hughes Fusion, which uses geostationary and low-orbit networks at once, is going onto the 717 fleet and new aircraft deliveries.
- Wi-Fi Onboard (formerly Gogo)
Still on certain regional and wide-body planes until they get Delta Sync Wi-Fi. Delta links Intelsat’s privacy policy for it.
- Amazon Leo
Planned from 2028, starting with an initial 500 aircraft.
What’s free
- SkyMiles members get free Wi-Fi on nearly all domestic and international flights. SkyMiles is free to join, and you can enrol on board.
- You can connect any number of devices to the free Wi-Fi. Sign in to your SkyMiles account on each one at
deltawifi.com. - Messaging is free on all flights with Wi-Fi Onboard and is included in Delta Sync Wi-Fi. Delta says SMS requires Wi-Fi calling enabled and can take up to 15 minutes after connecting. MMS is not supported.
- Members also get trial offers from partners such as Paramount+ and YouTube Premium. iCloud Private Relay can block these offers, so turn it off to see them.
As of November 2026.
Prices
Delta doesn’t publish Wi-Fi Flight Pass prices. A paid Flight Pass is available on select international flights and some Wi-Fi Onboard aircraft. Check the onboard portal.
Delta says a Flight Pass can’t move between devices, and Wi-Fi Onboard All-Day and Delta Global passes are no longer accepted. Paying customers who aren’t happy can ask for a refund.

Streaming and calls
Delta says streaming works on Delta Sync Wi-Fi and with Flight Passes. It calls the service “streaming-quality” on most Wi-Fi flights, with speed varying by aircraft, route and demand. Video and voice calls are not allowed, including Wi-Fi calling and VoIP.
VPNs
Delta says its Wi-Fi supports all major VPN apps. Connect and sign in at DeltaWiFi.com first, then turn the VPN on, because a VPN can prevent the login page from opening. Check how your VPN handles two-factor codes without mobile signal.
Which planes have it
Delta says nearly 1,300 aircraft, more than 95% of its fleet, have Wi-Fi. Delta Connection regional jets and the 717 are still moving to Delta Sync, due by early 2027, and may vary meanwhile. There is no Wi-Fi over China and Morocco. Some countries, including Argentina and South Korea, block it below 10,000 feet. Flights over Alaska can have a short gap.

On board with Kilobat
Kilobat is a Mac menu-bar app that shows what each app sends and holds back what can wait. On a plane:
- The sign-in page. When it doesn’t open by itself, the menu bar says This Wi-Fi wants you to sign in, with Open sign-in page. Turn your VPN on after you’ve signed in.
- Mark it metered. macOS treats plane Wi-Fi as unlimited. Mark it Metered in Kilobat’s Wi-Fi menu or with
kilobat networks cost metered, and Kilobat skips its own speed tests. If automatic switching is enabled, it switches to Travel. - Updates wait. With Pro, paused updaters enabled and the network filter on, macOS Software Update, App Store downloads, Google Updater and Microsoft AutoUpdate wait for an unmetered network. The apps keep working.
- See what’s using it. Every app’s upload and download, live in the menu bar, so a messaging-only plan isn’t spent on a sync you forgot.
- Send later. A big upload, such as Dropbox syncing a folder, shows as a row with its speed. With Pro, Send later can hold it until you’re on unmetered Wi-Fi again, for up to eight hours while Kilobat is open.
- Know what’s slow. Health shows latency and loss, and with Pro their history through the flight. Those measurements can help you investigate a slow connection. When Slack or Zoom won’t load, Is it them or me? reads the service’s status page.
