Telekom hotspot limits
Checked 1 November 2026 against Telekom’s own pages. Plans change: your plan’s terms win.
Telekom calls it Persönlicher Hotspot or tethering. It shares your mobile tariff’s data volume (Datenvolumen) with other devices; Telekom’s help describes no separate hotspot allowance.
- Hotspot data
- Your tariff’s data volume, shared with the phone.
- After it
- Telekom publishes no hotspot-only slowdown; when the volume is used up, you can book more with SpeedOn.
- Video
- Telekom publishes no hotspot-specific video limit.
- Check
- The MeinMagenta app, the Kundencenter, or
pass.telekom.deon the phone.
Hotspot allowance
- Telekom’s help says you can use your mobile tariff’s data volume on several devices, either with a MultiSIM or by setting up a personal hotspot.
- Its hotspot guide calls the feature Persönlicher Hotspot, also known as tethering, and shows how to turn it on for iPhone and Android.
Speed after the allowance
- Telekom doesn’t describe a lower hotspot speed in its help.
- When your data volume is used up before the month ends, Telekom’s help points to booking more with SpeedOn.
Plans without hotspot
The Telekom help pages checked here list no tariff without hotspot.
Video

Check what’s left
Open the MeinMagenta app, which shows the data used this month.
Or sign in to the Telekom Kundencenter, where it’s on the start page.
Or, on the phone’s mobile data, open
pass.telekom.dein a browser.
What Kilobat can tell you
If every speed test and big download on your hotspot stops near the same speed on different occasions while the ping stays normal, Health says it looks like a hotspot cap. A weak signal or a busy cell wanders instead, and Kilobat says nothing then. It also notices video held near 1.5 Mbps while other downloads run faster. It can’t see your allowance or tell a hotspot cap from a plan that caps everything: check on the phone too.
It’s free in Health on any phone hotspot, with the measurements behind it in Kilobat Pro, and in the terminal with kilobat hotspot. More in the docs and saving hotspot data.
Questions
My Telekom hotspot is slow but the phone is fast. Is Telekom limiting it?
Telekom’s help describes no hotspot speed limit, so check the data volume first at pass.telekom.de. If there’s volume left and a speed test on the laptop matches the phone’s, it isn’t the hotspot; if the laptop is much slower, look at the Wi-Fi link between them.

See what your hotspot is really doing
Kilobat is a Mac menu-bar app that shows which apps use your hotspot’s data, holds back updaters on metered networks, and says when downloads keep stopping at the same speed.
