Mint Mobile hotspot limits
Checked 1 November 2026 against Mint Mobile’s own pages. Plans change: your plan’s terms win.
Mint Mobile runs on T-Mobile’s network and includes Mobile Hotspot on every plan at no extra charge. How much you can use depends on the plan.
- Hotspot data
- Up to 20 GB of high-speed hotspot data a month on Unlimited; on the other plans, hotspot uses the plan’s data.
- After it
- Mint doesn’t publish a hotspot speed after the 20 GB; you can add more data in the app.
- Video
- Video streams in SD on Unlimited.
- Check
- The Mint Mobile app, or your account page on mintmobile.com.
Hotspot allowance
- Mobile Hotspot is free on every Mint plan, for up to 15 devices.
- On the Unlimited plan, Mint’s terms limit high-speed data for hotspot use to 20 GB per 30- or 31-day period.
- On the other plans, hotspot data counts toward the plan’s monthly data, with the phone’s own use.
Speed after the allowance
- Mint’s terms don’t give a speed for hotspot once the 20 GB is used. Its hotspot page says you can add more in the app if you run out.
- On the plans with a set amount of data, using all of it can leave you unable to send and receive data until the next period.
- At busy times Mint, or T-Mobile’s network, may put data on the phone ahead of hotspot data.
Plans without hotspot
Every Mint plan includes hotspot.
Video
- The Unlimited plan streams video in SD.
- Mint’s terms say streaming video can be optimised and that phone data may be prioritised over hotspot data.

What Kilobat can tell you
If every speed test and big download on your hotspot stops near the same speed on different occasions while the ping stays normal, Health says it looks like a hotspot cap. A weak signal or a busy cell wanders instead, and Kilobat says nothing then. It also notices video held near 1.5 Mbps while other downloads run faster. It can’t see your allowance or tell a hotspot cap from a plan that caps everything: check on the phone too.
It’s free in Health on any phone hotspot, with the measurements behind it in Kilobat Pro, and in the terminal with kilobat hotspot. More in the docs and saving hotspot data.

See what your hotspot is really doing
Kilobat is a Mac menu-bar app that shows which apps use your hotspot’s data, holds back updaters on metered networks, and says when downloads keep stopping at the same speed.
