Find a better Wi-Fi spot
The signal radar scores your Wi-Fi several times a second. Walk a few steps and stop, and it tells you if the signal gets better.
In the app
Open the Wi-Fi menu and click Find a better spot. You can also open the Radar tab.
Walk a few steps with the Mac, then stop for a moment.
Read the score. The radar tells you when an earlier spot was stronger.
Save a good spot with a name, such as Kitchen, to compare rooms later.
With the CLI
Run the radar in Terminal and walk around. To stop, type q and press Return.
kilobat radar --watchTake one reading at each spot.
kilobat radar --jsonOutput

Through MCP
Connect the MCP server once with claude mcp add kilobat -- kilobat mcp. For other clients, see the docs. Then an agent can call these tools. Tools that change settings tell the agent to ask you first.
| Tool and arguments | What it does |
|---|---|
get_wifi | The current link: RSSI, noise, SNR, channel, band, link rate and a 0–100 score. |
scan_wifi | Nearby networks with signal, channel, band and width. |
suggest_wifi_channel | The least crowded channel in the current band. |
Good to know
- The radar measures signal strength. It does not show direction or distance.
- A difference of less than about 10 points is noise.
- macOS shows Wi-Fi names only to apps with Location access. Allow it for Kilobat to see network names.
- A stronger signal does not always give faster internet. Run a diagnosis too.
