# Bell Giga Hub login, restart, guest Wi-Fi and devices

The Giga Hub is the modem-router Bell supplies with Fibe Internet. Bell steers Wi-Fi and device management to the Bell Wi-Fi app; the browser settings at `192.168.2.1` cover Wi-Fi networks, usage, speed tests and the admin password.

`192.168.2.1` or bell.ca/mymodem (while the modem is online)

App

The Bell Wi-Fi app and the MyBell app (iOS and Android), with your MyBell username and password

Password

You can unlock the settings from the modem itself: press the up or down arrows on its front until **Modem Management** is selected, then press **OK**.

Models

Giga Hub 2.0, Giga Hub, Home Hub 4000

**Checked 1 November 2026.** Bell Giga Hub 2.0, Giga Hub and Home Hub 4000 (menus as of 2026), the Bell Wi-Fi app and the MyBell app. The Home Hub 3000 and older modems differ.

## Sign in to the Bell Giga Hub

**Factory default.** Bell says the default admin password is the serial number on the sticker on the back of the modem. Set your own under **Modem preferences**.

1. Connect your Mac to the modem by Wi-Fi or Ethernet. The settings only open from your home network.
2. Open `192.168.2.1`, or `bell.ca/mymodem` while you’re online.
3. Click a section such as **Manage my Wi-Fi**.
4. When prompted, confirm **Modem Management** on the modem’s front panel, or enter the admin password.
5. To change the password, click **Modem preferences**, fill in the current and new passwords, and click **Save**.

Under **Modem preferences › Password recovery**, turn on **By email or text message** and save your contact details. Otherwise a forgotten password means a factory reset from the modem screen (**Reset to factory default**), which erases all your settings.

## Restart it properly

A reboot also interrupts Fibe TV and fibre home phone.

1. On a Giga Hub 2.0, press the down arrow until **Restart the modem** is selected, then press **OK**.
2. On a Giga Hub or Home Hub 4000, press the power ring on the front, select **Yes** and press **OK**.
3. Wait until the front lights are solid white.

On MyBell on a computer, the same option is under **My services › Internet › Wi-Fi › Reboot your modem**.

### From the MyBell app

1. Open the MyBell app and touch **Support › Internet**.
2. Scroll down and touch **Reboot your modem**.
3. Confirm the modem with **Select & Continue**, then touch **Reboot now**.

### With the power cable

1. Unplug the power cable, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in.
2. Wait until the front lights are solid and all the same colour.

### Schedule a restart

Bell’s support pages describe no scheduled restart.

**Kilobat can help.** Kilobat Pro’s [router check-up](https://kilobat.app/docs/home-network#router-checkup) learns how fast this router usually answers, says when a restart is due, and checks the next day whether it helped.

## Update the firmware

Bell’s support pages document no firmware version check or manual update for the Giga Hub or Home Hub 4000.

## See connected devices

1. Open the Bell Wi-Fi app and log in with your MyBell username and password.
2. Touch the **People** icon at the bottom, then **Devices**.
3. Select a device to see its connection quality, Wi-Fi channel and whether it uses the modem or a pod.
4. To rename it, touch the three dots, then **Nickname**. Touch the **Pause** icon to cut its internet.

In the browser, **My usage** at `192.168.2.1` shows which devices used the most data over 30 days.

**Kilobat can help.** Kilobat’s [new-device alerts](https://kilobat.app/docs/home-network#new-devices) tell you when a device you haven’t seen joins your home Wi-Fi. **Tools › Devices** lists what answers on the network, and you can name each one.

## UPnP and port forwarding

Bell’s support pages don’t document UPnP, NAT-PMP or port forwarding on the Giga Hub or Home Hub 4000.

**Kilobat can help.** Without UPnP traffic counters, Kilobat’s [call reports](https://kilobat.app/video-calls) still name a busy app on your Mac or a Wi-Fi problem, but can’t point at another device at home.

## Prioritise calls and gaming

Bell’s support pages document no QoS or device-priority setting. The Bell Wi-Fi app can pause devices or schedule Internet freezes.

**Kilobat can help.** Run Kilobat’s [stutter test](https://kilobat.app/guides/recipes/test-call-stutter) before and after you change priorities, to see whether calls really got smoother.

## 2.4 and 5 GHz, and the channel

Bell documents one primary Wi-Fi network name for the modem. The Bell Wi-Fi app shows which band and channel each device uses.

1. Open `192.168.2.1` and click **Manage my Wi-Fi**.
2. Under **Primary Wi-Fi network**, check it is **ON**.
3. Change the **Network name (SSID)** or **Password** if you like, then click **Save**.

### Change the channel

1. Toggle the device’s Wi-Fi off and on so it picks the best channel again.
2. If that doesn’t help, reboot the modem.

Bell’s support pages document no manual channel setting.

**Kilobat can help.** Kilobat shows which band and channel your Mac is on, and `kilobat channels` suggests the least crowded channel. More in [crowded Wi-Fi channels](https://kilobat.app/guides/wifi-channel-congestion) and [Wi-Fi on a Mac](https://kilobat.app/wifi-analyzer-mac).

## Mesh: which node a device uses

Bell Whole Home Wi-Fi pods mesh with the modem. With a Giga Hub you get the Wi-Fi 6E Pod; the Home Hub 4000 uses the Wi-Fi Pod.

1. Open the Bell Wi-Fi app, log in and turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
2. Plug the pod in, keeping your phone nearby, and follow the prompts to add it.
3. Space pods evenly, 10 to 14 metres apart and from the modem, on interior walls.
4. Check each device’s pod and connection quality under **Devices**.

**Kilobat can help.** When your Mac moves to another node or band, Kilobat’s Health says so, so a weaker node isn’t taken for a router problem. See [find a better Wi-Fi spot](https://kilobat.app/guides/recipes/find-better-wifi-spot).

## Guest network

1. Open `192.168.2.1` and click **Manage my Wi-Fi**.
2. Confirm **Modem Management** on the modem’s front panel if prompted.
3. Set **Guest Wi-Fi network** to **ON**. The primary network must be on.
4. Change its name and password if you like, then click **Save**.

Guests get internet only, with no access to your other devices or settings. To share your main network instead, touch the **Share** icon in the Bell Wi-Fi app.

**Kilobat can help.** Kilobat can show a network as a QR code, so guests join with their phone’s camera: [share Wi-Fi with a QR code](https://kilobat.app/guides/recipes/share-wifi-qr-code).

## DNS settings

Bell’s support pages document no DNS server setting on the Giga Hub. Set DNS on the Mac instead.

**Kilobat can help.** Before you change DNS, [compare resolvers with Kilobat](https://kilobat.app/guides/recipes/pick-faster-dns) to see which answers fastest from your home.

## Connection status and logs

1. Open `192.168.2.1`. During an outage in your area, Bell says the modem shows the service status and fixes to try.
2. In MyBell, run **Virtual repair** to detect and fix problems with Internet, TV and phone.
3. On the modem’s front panel, scroll to **Test Internet speed** and press **OK**.
4. Or click **Speed test** at `192.168.2.1`, tick **Block all local network activity** and click **Start test**.

The modem speed test briefly cuts Internet, TV and home phone, including recordings in progress.

**Kilobat can help.** When the line keeps dropping, Kilobat’s [provider report](https://kilobat.app/docs/health#report) lists outages, latency and speed tests against your plan, ready to send to your provider.

## Questions

**Where is the Wi-Fi password?**

On the modem’s front panel, use the arrows to select **Wi-Fi password** and press **OK**. On a Giga Hub 2.0 you can scan the QR code it shows.

**Why won’t 192.168.2.1 open?**

The settings only open from your home network. Connect to the modem’s Wi-Fi or Ethernet first.

## See what your router can’t tell you

Kilobat is a Mac menu-bar app that watches the network from your side: which app is using it, whether the Wi-Fi, the router or the provider is slow, and why a call froze.
