# Korean Air Wi-Fi

Korean Air started free Starlink Wi-Fi on 15 September 2026, in every cabin and with no sign-up. Other aircraft may offer paid Wi-Fi or no Wi-Fi.

Provider

[Starlink](https://kilobat.app/in-flight-wifi/starlink-aviation), [Viasat](https://kilobat.app/in-flight-wifi/viasat)

Network

`wifi.koreanair.com`

Free

Starlink Wi-Fi is free for passengers in every cabin, from Economy to First.

**Checked 1 November 2026.** Prices and policies as of November 2026.

## Who provides it

- **[Starlink](https://kilobat.app/in-flight-wifi/starlink-aviation)**

Free Wi-Fi from 15 September 2026, first on three Airbus A350-900s and one Boeing 777-300ER. Korean Air says 15 aircraft were fitted by late October 2026.
- **[Viasat](https://kilobat.app/in-flight-wifi/viasat)**

In 2024 Viasat said 30 Airbus A321neos and 40 Boeing 787s were scheduled to enter service by the end of 2027. The later Starlink rollout may change equipment.

## What’s free

- **Starlink Wi-Fi** is free for passengers in every cabin, from Economy to First. No membership or sign-up is needed.
- To get on, you enter the name and seat number on your boarding pass, then watch an advertisement.
- Aircraft without Starlink may offer paid Wi-Fi or no Wi-Fi. Korean Air lets you check flights before booking.

As of November 2026.

## Prices

| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Messaging, domestic / short- or medium-haul / long-haul | USD 3.95 / 4.95 / 5.95 |
| Internet, domestic / short-haul / medium-haul / long-haul | USD 4.95 / 5.95–11.95 / 13.95 / 20.95 for the flight |
| Internet, two hours on medium- or long-haul | USD 10.95 |

Paid service is available only on some aircraft. Korean Air says plans and prices depend on route, and a two-hour plan cannot be paused.

As of November 2026.

## Streaming and calls

On Starlink aircraft, Korean Air says you can stream video and music, play online games and transfer large files. Internet voice and video calls and live broadcasts on social media are restricted under airline policy. The paid internet plan allows video up to 480p, and restricts calls and cloud services.

## VPNs

Korean Air doesn’t publish a VPN rule. It says insecure or illegal sites may be blocked.

## Which planes have it

Starlink began on four widebody aircraft serving the Americas, Europe, Southeast Asia and some short routes. By 26 October 2026, 15 aircraft had it. Korean Air aims to fit most of its aircraft, including Asiana’s, by the first half of 2027. Not every flight has Wi-Fi yet.

## How to connect

These are the steps Korean Air gives for its Starlink aircraft.

1. Put your phone or laptop in airplane mode and turn Wi-Fi on.
2. Join the onboard network, `wifi.koreanair.com`.
3. Go to the Korean Air Wi-Fi portal.
4. Enter the passenger name and seat number from your boarding pass.
5. Watch the advertisement to finish connecting.

On aircraft with the paid service, Korean Air says to join `Korean Air In-Flight` and visit `wifi.koreanair.com`. Starlink service is not guaranteed on every flight.

## On board with Kilobat

Kilobat is a Mac menu-bar app that shows what each app sends and holds back what can wait. On a plane:

- **The sign-in page.** When it doesn’t open by itself, the menu bar says **This Wi-Fi wants you to sign in**, with **Open sign-in page**. Turn your VPN on after you’ve signed in.
- **Mark it metered.** macOS treats plane Wi-Fi as unlimited. Mark it **Metered** in Kilobat’s Wi-Fi menu or with `kilobat networks cost metered`, and Kilobat skips its own speed tests. If automatic switching is enabled, it switches to Travel.
- **Updates wait.** With Pro, paused updaters enabled and the network filter on, macOS Software Update, App Store downloads, Google Updater and Microsoft AutoUpdate wait for an unmetered network. The apps keep working.
- **See what’s using it.** Every app’s upload and download, live in the menu bar, so a messaging-only plan isn’t spent on a sync you forgot.
- **Send later.** A big upload, such as Dropbox syncing a folder, shows as a row with its speed. With Pro, **Send later** can hold it until you’re on unmetered Wi-Fi again, for up to eight hours while Kilobat is open.
- **Know what’s slow.** Health shows latency and loss, and with Pro their history through the flight. Those measurements can help you investigate a slow connection. When Slack or Zoom won’t load, [Is it them or me?](https://kilobat.app/is-it-down) reads the service’s status page.
