Iberia is fitting free Starlink Wi-Fi across its fleet, starting with its first aircraft in July 2026. Aircraft without Starlink keep the older Wi-Fi, with free messaging for Business and Iberia Club and paid packages.

Step by step

## How to connect to Iberia Wi-Fi on a Mac

On an aircraft with Starlink, from Iberia’s Starlink page:

1. Turn on airplane mode on your device.
2. Select the `Iberia WiFi` network. The connection portal opens with a welcome screen.
3. Sign in with your email address or frequent flyer number. If the portal doesn’t open, go to `starlink.iberia.com`.

On the older Wi-Fi, join `Iberia WiFi` too. If the portal doesn’t open, scan the QR code on your seat or type `shop.iberia.com`. Business passengers sign in with their seat number and surname. Iberia Club members use their email or number and password, which can’t be reset in flight.

## What’s free on Iberia

- **Starlink Wi-Fi is free** in Economy, Premium Economy and Business on equipped aircraft. Iberia says you don’t enter payment details or choose a plan.
- Iberia says Starlink is available to Iberia Club members, partner programme members and customers who register during the flight. Its FAQ says no prior registration is needed.
- On the older Wi-Fi, **messaging is free** for the whole flight for Business passengers and Iberia Club members. You can also join Iberia Club on board.
- The free messaging covers apps such as WhatsApp, Messenger and Telegram. It is for text messages only, so files and photos need a paid package.

As of November 2026.

Prices

## What Iberia Wi-Fi costs

Iberia doesn’t publish prices for the older Wi-Fi. It says fares depend on the route and you choose a plan on board.

Paid packages cover browsing, streaming, email, messaging and sending documents. You pay by credit card in the portal. There is nothing to buy on Starlink.

As of November 2026.

The rules

## Streaming, calls and VPNs on Iberia Wi-Fi

### Streaming and calls

Streaming: Yes, on StarlinkCalls: Not in rest periods

Iberia says Starlink supports video streaming, video calls and the apps you normally use, though the experience may vary with flight conditions. It quotes speeds of up to 500 Mbps and latency of around 25 ms. On the older Wi-Fi, streaming needs a paid package.

### VPNs

Works on Starlink

For Starlink, Iberia says VPNs and cloud-based work tools work normally in most cases. It suggests checking with your IT department if you have specific needs. It doesn’t publish a VPN rule for the older Wi-Fi.

Aircraft

## Who provides Iberia Wi-Fi, and which planes have it

- ### [Starlink](https://kilobat.app/in-flight-wifi/starlink-aviation)

  The provider runs: Low-orbit satellite

  Being fitted across the fleet since July 2026, under the agreement Iberia’s parent IAG signed with Starlink. Iberia aims to finish within two years.
- ### Previous Wi-Fi (three suppliers)

  Iberia says three different suppliers run its previous Wi-Fi, which stays on aircraft without Starlink. It doesn’t name them.

Iberia says the older Wi-Fi is on 96% of its aircraft. Starlink began on its first aircraft in July 2026, and Iberia aims to equip the fleet within two years. Aircraft EC-ILS, EC-LEI, EC-OAX and EC-OAV have no Wi-Fi. Iberia Regional Air Nostrum flights have no Wi-Fi, only the free Regional Play entertainment.

## Make a slow, shared link go further

Kilobat is a Mac menu-bar app that shows what each app sends and holds back what can wait. On Iberia Wi-Fi:

- **The sign-in page.** When it doesn’t open by itself, the menu bar says **This Wi-Fi wants you to sign in**, with **Open sign-in page**. Turn your VPN on after you’ve signed in.
- **Mark it metered.** macOS treats plane Wi-Fi as unlimited. Mark it **Metered** in Kilobat’s Wi-Fi & Bluetooth menu or with `kilobat networks cost metered`, and Kilobat skips its own speed tests. If automatic switching is enabled, it switches to Travel.
- **Updates wait.** With Pro, paused updaters enabled and the network filter on, macOS Software Update, App Store downloads, Google Updater and Microsoft AutoUpdate wait for an unmetered network. The apps keep working.
- **See what’s using it.** Every app’s upload and download, live in the menu bar, so a messaging-only plan isn’t spent on a sync you forgot.
- **Send later.** A big upload, such as Dropbox syncing a folder, shows as a row with its speed. With Pro, **Send later** can hold it until you’re on unmetered Wi-Fi again, for up to eight hours while Kilobat is open.
- **Know what’s slow.** Health shows latency and loss, and with Pro their history through the flight. Those measurements can help you investigate a slow connection. When Slack or Zoom won’t load, [Is it them or me?](https://kilobat.app/is-it-down) reads the service’s status page.

```
Kilobat is free to download and use. Pro adds the parts marked Pro, for $29 once for two Macs, with a 7-day free trial and 14-day refunds. More in [what to do before you board](https://kilobat.app/in-flight-wifi#before-you-board).
**What is eating your bandwidth?** Live traffic for every app, right in your menu bar. Catch the backup choking your call.
**Hotspot data gone in an hour?** Travel blocks backups, and updaters wait until you’re off the hotspot. The apps keep working.
## Questions
**Is Iberia Wi-Fi free?**
Yes on Starlink-equipped aircraft, in every cabin. On the older Wi-Fi, messaging is free for Business passengers and Iberia Club members, and other internet costs extra.
**Can I make calls on Iberia Wi-Fi?**
Iberia says voice and video calls are possible over its on-board Wi-Fi, but not during rest periods. It asks you to use headphones and keep your voice low.
**What is the Iberia Wi-Fi network called?**
Iberia names its Wi-Fi network `Iberia WiFi`. Join it, then sign in on the page that opens.
**Can you stream on Iberia Wi-Fi?**
Iberia says Starlink supports video streaming, video calls and the apps you normally use, though the experience may vary with flight conditions. It quotes speeds of up to 500 Mbps and latency of around 25 ms. On the older Wi-Fi, streaming needs a paid package.
**Can you use a VPN on Iberia Wi-Fi?**
For Starlink, Iberia says VPNs and cloud-based work tools work normally in most cases. It suggests checking with your IT department if you have specific needs. It doesn’t publish a VPN rule for the older Wi-Fi.
**Why won’t the Iberia Wi-Fi sign-in page open on my Mac?**
A VPN, iCloud Private Relay or your own DNS can keep the page from opening. Turn them off, open `http://captive.apple.com` in Safari, and turn the VPN on again after you’ve signed in. Kilobat shows **Open sign-in page** when a network is waiting for you.
