# Alaska Airlines Wi-Fi

Alaska Airlines is fitting Starlink across its fleet, and the Wi-Fi is free for Atmos Rewards members, thanks to T-Mobile. About 40% of Alaska and Hawaiian aircraft had it in late October 2026.

Network

See connection instructions below; the network name may depend on the aircraft.

Free

On Starlink aircraft, Wi-Fi is free for Atmos Rewards members, thanks to T-Mobile.

## Who provides it

- **[Starlink](https://kilobat.app/in-flight-wifi/starlink-aviation)**

All Embraer 175 regional jets and a growing share of the mainline fleet. Alaska expects to finish in 2027.
- **[Wi-Fi Onboard](https://kilobat.app/in-flight-wifi/intelsat)**

Alaska links WiFi Onboard terms for its Standard and Basic paid services.

## What’s free

- On Starlink aircraft, Wi-Fi is free for **Atmos Rewards** members, thanks to T-Mobile. Alaska introduced the member sign-in by mid-July 2026. Joining is free, before or during travel.
- Guests under 18 get free Wi-Fi after entering their reservation details.
- Alaska offers free texting on its Standard and Basic services. Eligible T-Mobile plans may also include free internet sessions.

As of November 2026.

## Prices

| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Standard or Basic internet, per flight | US$8 |

Alaska lists both paid services at $8. Check the onboard portal for the service and price on your flight.

As of November 2026.

## Streaming and calls

Alaska says Starlink allows “high-quality streaming across multiple devices, from takeoff to landing”. It quotes speeds up to 500 Mbps and latency under 99 ms. Standard paid Wi-Fi supports streaming; Basic does not.

## VPNs

Alaska doesn’t publish a VPN rule in its Starlink announcements.

## Which planes have it

Alaska’s chart, updated 26 October 2026, shows all 93 Embraer 175s done. It also shows 12 of 20 737-8 MAX and 4 of 80 737-9 MAX connected. The 737-800, 737-900ER and 787 had none yet. Alaska expects the rest by 2027. Alaska’s passenger Wi-Fi page also describes Standard and Basic paid services on some aircraft.

## How to connect

On a Starlink aircraft:

1. Turn on airplane mode and Wi-Fi. Alaska’s Wi-Fi page says to join `Free WiFi at Alaskawifi.com`.
2. Open `AlaskaWiFi.com` and follow the portal instructions.
3. Sign in to Atmos Rewards, or sign up, in a few taps. Existing members can be connected automatically.
4. Under 18? Enter your reservation details instead.

For Standard or Basic Wi-Fi, Alaska says to join `Alaskawifi.com` and open `AlaskaWiFi.com`. Guests under 16 need a parent or guardian to enrol in Atmos Rewards.

## On board with Kilobat

Kilobat is a Mac menu-bar app that shows what each app sends and holds back what can wait. On a plane:

- **The sign-in page.** When it doesn’t open by itself, the menu bar says **This Wi-Fi wants you to sign in**, with **Open sign-in page**. Turn your VPN on after you’ve signed in.
- **Mark it metered.** macOS treats plane Wi-Fi as unlimited. Mark it **Metered** in Kilobat’s Wi-Fi menu or with `kilobat networks cost metered`, and Kilobat skips its own speed tests. If automatic switching is enabled, it switches to Travel.
- **Updates wait.** With Pro, paused updaters enabled and the network filter on, macOS Software Update, App Store downloads, Google Updater and Microsoft AutoUpdate wait for an unmetered network. The apps keep working.
- **See what’s using it.** Every app’s upload and download, live in the menu bar, so a messaging-only plan isn’t spent on a sync you forgot.
- **Send later.** A big upload, such as Dropbox syncing a folder, shows as a row with its speed. With Pro, **Send later** can hold it until you’re on unmetered Wi-Fi again, for up to eight hours while Kilobat is open.
- **Know what’s slow.** Health shows latency and loss, and with Pro their history through the flight. Those measurements can help you investigate a slow connection. When Slack or Zoom won’t load, [Is it them or me?](https://kilobat.app/is-it-down) reads the service’s status page.
