# Visible hotspot limits

**Checked 1 November 2026** against Visible’s own pages. Plans change: your plan’s terms win.

Visible, which runs on Verizon’s network, doesn’t give hotspot an allowance. Instead every plan caps hotspot speed all the time, at a level that depends on the plan.

Hotspot data

No data limit on hotspot use.

After it

Always capped at up to 5 Mbps (Visible), 10 Mbps (Visible+) or 15 Mbps (Visible+ Pro).

Video

Hotspot video is up to 480p on Visible, 720p on Visible+ and 1080p on Visible+ Pro; default quality may be lower.

Check

There’s no hotspot allowance to run out; the speed cap applies from the start.

## Hotspot allowance

- Every Visible plan includes unlimited use of the phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot, with no data limit on hotspot use.

## Speed after the allowance

- Hotspot runs at up to **5 Mbps** on the Visible plan, **10 Mbps** on Visible+ and **15 Mbps** on Visible+ Pro.
- This is a speed cap that applies all the time, not a slowdown after an allowance, so a fast phone connection and a 5 Mbps laptop are what the plan says.
- Visible says a single connected device gets the best speed; with several devices on the hotspot, each gets less.
- On the base plan, data can be temporarily slower than other traffic when the network is busy.

## Plans without hotspot

Every current Visible plan includes hotspot.

## Video

- For hotspot video, Visible publishes up to 480p SD on Visible, 720p HD on Visible+ and 1080p HD on Visible+ Pro. Default quality may be lower until enabled in your account.

## Check what’s left

There’s no hotspot data to count down. If downloads on your laptop stop at the plan’s speed while the phone itself is faster, that’s the plan’s hotspot cap working as described.

1. Run a speed test in the phone’s browser with the laptop disconnected.
2. Then run one on the laptop over the hotspot. A laptop at about 5, 10 or 15 Mbps matches your plan’s cap.

## What Kilobat can tell you

If every speed test and big download on your hotspot stops near the same speed, such as the 5 Mbps, 10 Mbps or 15 Mbps Visible publishes, on different occasions while the ping stays normal, Health says it looks like Visible’s hotspot cap. A weak signal or a busy cell wanders instead, and Kilobat says nothing then. It also notices video held near 1.5 Mbps while other downloads run faster. It can’t see your allowance or tell a hotspot cap from a plan that caps everything: check on the phone too.

It’s free in Health on any phone hotspot, with the measurements behind it in Kilobat Pro, and in the terminal with `kilobat hotspot`. More in [the docs](https://kilobat.app/docs/usage#hotspot-throttling) and [saving hotspot data](https://kilobat.app/save-hotspot-data).

## Questions

**Does Visible slow hotspot after a certain amount of data?**

No. Visible’s plans put no data limit on hotspot use; they cap its speed instead, all the time.

## See what your hotspot is really doing

Kilobat is a Mac menu-bar app that shows which apps use your hotspot’s data, holds back updaters on metered networks, and says when downloads keep stopping at the same speed.
