# Three hotspot limits

**Checked 1 November 2026** against Three’s own pages. Plans change: your plan’s terms win.

Three includes Personal Hotspot on its plans. You can share any or all of your data allowance, and on unlimited data Three says there’s no data cap and no fair usage policy.

## Hotspot allowance

- Three’s Advanced Plans price guide says you can use all or any of your data allowance for a personal hotspot within the UK or in its Go Roam in Europe destinations.
- On unlimited data plans, Three says there are no data caps and no fair usage policy, and you can share your unlimited data with other devices.

## Speed after the allowance

- Three doesn’t describe a lower hotspot speed.
- Some of its unlimited SIMs are sold with speeds up to 100 Mbps, which applies to the phone and the hotspot alike.
- Three’s One Day Boost and Data Passport add-ons can be used for personal hotspot too.

## Plans without hotspot

- The Advanced Plans guide names the UK and Go Roam in Europe destinations for hotspot use. For Go Roam Around the World destinations, check the plan’s terms before relying on hotspot.

## What Kilobat can tell you

If every speed test and big download on your hotspot stops near the same speed on different occasions while the ping stays normal, Health says it looks like a hotspot cap. A weak signal or a busy cell wanders instead, and Kilobat says nothing then. It also notices video held near 1.5 Mbps while other downloads run faster. It can’t see your allowance or tell a hotspot cap from a plan that caps everything: check on the phone too.

## Questions

**Does Three slow tethering on unlimited plans?**

Three says its unlimited data has no data caps and no fair usage policy, and you can share it as a hotspot. A slow hotspot is then more likely the signal or a busy mast.
