# AT&T hotspot limits

**Checked 1 November 2026** against AT&T’s own pages. Plans change: your plan’s terms win.

Every AT&T Unlimited Your Way plan includes hotspot data, in an amount that depends on the plan. Once it’s used, hotspot keeps working at a very low speed until the next bill cycle.

Hotspot data

250 GB (Elite 2.0), 100 GB (Premium 2.0), 50 GB (Extra 2.0) or 3 GB (Value 2.0) per line, each month.

After it

A maximum of 128 kbps for the rest of the bill cycle.

Video

4K UHD on Elite 2.0 and Premium 2.0; SD on Extra 2.0 and Value 2.0.

Check

Dial `*3282#`, or look at Hotspot usage in myAT&T.

## Hotspot allowance

AT&T’s Unlimited Your Way page lists hotspot data per line, per month:

- **AT&T Elite 2.0:** 250 GB.
- **AT&T Premium 2.0:** 100 GB.
- **AT&T Extra 2.0:** 50 GB.
- **AT&T Value 2.0:** 3 GB.

Tablet lines added to an Unlimited Your Way group get 30 GB of hotspot data. Older plans had smaller allowances with the same slowdown; check yours in myAT&T.

## Speed after the allowance

- Once a line’s hotspot data is used, hotspot speeds slow to a maximum of 128 kbps until the next bill cycle.
- At that speed, web pages load slowly and video hardly plays.

## Plans without hotspot

AT&T’s current Unlimited Your Way plans all include hotspot data. Older or prepaid plans can differ; the plan’s own terms say.

## Video

- Elite 2.0 and Premium 2.0 stream video in up to 4K UHD.
- Extra 2.0 and Value 2.0 stream video in SD.

## Check what’s left

1. From the AT&T phone, dial `*3282#` to get a text with the data used since your last bill.
2. Or sign in to myAT&T, go to usage, and look at **Hotspot usage**, which shows the cellular data used for hotspot.

AT&T also lets you set data usage alerts in myAT&T.

## What Kilobat can tell you

If every speed test and big download on your hotspot stops near the same speed, such as the 128 kbps AT&T publishes, on different occasions while the ping stays normal, Health says it looks like AT&T’s hotspot cap. A weak signal or a busy cell wanders instead, and Kilobat says nothing then. It also notices video held near 1.5 Mbps while other downloads run faster. It can’t see your allowance or tell a hotspot cap from a plan that caps everything: check on the phone too.

It’s free in Health on any phone hotspot, with the measurements behind it in Kilobat Pro, and in the terminal with `kilobat hotspot`. More in [the docs](https://kilobat.app/docs/usage#hotspot-throttling) and [saving hotspot data](https://kilobat.app/save-hotspot-data).

## Questions

**Is 128 kbps usable for a laptop?**

Barely. A laptop’s background traffic alone can fill it. If your AT&T hotspot suddenly crawls near the end of a bill cycle, check Hotspot usage in myAT&T first.

## See what your hotspot is really doing

Kilobat is a Mac menu-bar app that shows which apps use your hotspot’s data, holds back updaters on metered networks, and says when downloads keep stopping at the same speed.
