# Apex Legends lag on Mac: game regions and cloud streaming

A cloud session has a path from the Mac to the streaming service and another from the cloud machine to the game.

Applies to: Apex Legends accessed from a Mac through an available cloud service. Availability and supported platforms can change. · Checked: 2 November 2026

## Symptoms

- The game shows high ping or packet loss.
- The stream stutters or controls feel delayed.

## Likely causes

- **The game path.** EA says distance, server conditions and the selected data centre can affect game latency.
- **The streaming path.** Wi-Fi interference or a busy connection between the Mac and streaming service can impair the stream.

## Check both paths

1. Check the cloud service and Apex Legends status for an outage.
2. EA lists North America, Asia and solo regions, with data centres inside them.
3. In Apex, open **Settings › Gameplay** and turn on **Performance Display**.
4. At the launch screen, select **Data Center** before continuing. Compare the displayed latency and loss.
5. Run your cloud provider’s network test from the Mac. Compare its result with the in-game display.
6. Compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi if available. Pause large transfers, then test again.

## How to fix it

1. Choose a data centre appropriate for the cloud session. EA says a distant centre can increase delay.
2. If only the stream is poor, check the streaming provider’s bandwidth and latency requirements.
3. If Wi-Fi is the weaker path, follow [Weak Wi-Fi signal on a Mac](https://kilobat.app/guides/weak-wifi-signal-mac).

## With Kilobat

1. Compare AWS regional test targets from the Mac. These are not the cloud session’s game-server measurements.

   ```
   kilobat games --game apex
   ```
2. A no-reply result does not prove that Apex servers are down.

## Questions

**Can I install Apex Legends natively on macOS?**

EA lists Windows for its PC version, not macOS. Check the current supported cloud-service catalogue before playing.

**Does my Mac’s ping to a regional target equal the in-game ping?**

No. The cloud machine and the Mac use different paths.

**Which ports and NAT type does Apex require?**

The cited EA guidance does not give a complete current port or NAT requirement. Ask EA or the streaming provider.
